St. Petersburg Parks and Recreation has a team of staff members dedicated to Therapeutic Recreation. This division focuses on recreational activities for persons with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities.
CAPI supports recreation for persons with disabilities. Below are some of the resources available to allow for inclusion and enjoyment of the recreational activities in the area.
Handcrank bikes and Tandem bicycles are available for rental by contacting the Therapeutic Recreation Office.
Beach Wheelchairs are available for use at St. Petersburg's Treasure Island Municipal Beach and at North Shore Pool. Arrange for use at other locations through the Therapeutic Recreation office, 893-7899.
The City of St. Petersburg swimming pools have been adapted to meet the needs of our disabled community. Please note to check with the Aquatics division for hours of operation and entrance fees: Pools
The City of St. Petersburg is home to some of the best municipal golf courses in the nation. To help persons with mobility impairments enjoy the sport, CAPI has supported an adapted golf cart. Please call in advance to reserve the cart. Golf Courses
