Nature Camps

The adventure awaits! Campers will discover nature and wildlife, exercise creativity, all while learning to care for our environment. Camps take place when Pinellas County's schools are on break. See information below for ways to create amazing memories for your child. Fee assistance and discount options may be available. Free lunches are available to campers during summer camp. Lunches are not provided during fall, winter, and spring camps. For more information, please contact (727) 893-7326.

Boyd Hill Day Camps

The Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is offering two Day Camps for school-aged children (ages 5-11).

The camp focuses on nature and science topics. Exciting activities include nature hikes, games, and animal and plant studies. Campers explore the natural world, learn to share discoveries, work together, develop their personal creativity, and have fun. Snacks and lunch NOT provided.

8-11 Cost: $16 per day

Learn about unique habitats, get dirty dip netting, and observe wildlife during hikes. Snacks and Lunch NOT provided.

9 a.m. - noon
Cost: $60 per week
Each day the program includes a combination of nature stories, songs, games, crafts, and hikes to explore the outdoors. The goal is to nurture a child's curiosity, help them acquire developmentally appropriate skills, and instill appreciation and respect for the natural world.

5-6 AQUACAMP Cost: $110 per week
Campers explore the many roles of water in ecosystems, learn about local watersheds and how people affect water resources such as lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Each day will include outdoor exploration and hands-on activities. Campers will learn how they can help to keep local waterways clean.
Clam Bayou Preserve

5-6 YOUNG NATURALIST CAMP Cost: $180 per week
Young Naturalist Camp focuses on nature and science topics. Exciting activities include nature hikes, games, and animal and plant studies. Campers explore the natural world, learn to share discoveries, work together, develop their personal creativity, and have fun on field trips.

7-11 TURTLE CAMP Cost: $120 per week
This educational and fun, three-day nature camp will introduce the study of tortoises and freshwater turtles with an emphasis on diversity, ecology, and conservation of Florida species. Facilitated by turtle biologist and environmental educator George L. Heinrich, children will reassemble turtle shells from piles of bones, use radiographs to determine clutch size, dissect gopher tortoise scat to study diet, and meet a Florida pine snake (gopher tortoise burrow associate).

7-13 WILDLIFE STUFFED ANIMAL CAMP Cost: $120 per week
Learn about common animals of Boyd Hill! Each day campers will create a homemade stuffed animal to take home. Campers will go on daily hikes, have naturalist lessons, and interactive activities.

Campers will experience a time when family, friendship, and character were as important as food, water, and shelter. Activities are adapted from the Association of Experiential Education to foster team building, leadership, and self-esteem.

This environmentally-focused camp offers an exciting slate of activities to enjoy the wonders of winter weather: winter games, animal tracking, “snow” crafts, fire building, campfire stories, s’mores, and much, much more! Your child will enjoy a fun-filled week of outdoor play while developing ecological awareness and nurturing their connection to nature.

Create four handcrafted holiday nature inspired items to take home. Campers will go on daily hikes, have naturalist lessons, and interactive activities.
